For your coastal holiday or weekend break, the Hotel Atlantic Thalasso & Spa Valdys*** is located 300m from the beach and close to the centre of Saint Jean de Monts, a pretty seaside town situated between the sea, dunes, golf course and forest. From here you can easily access the many different walks nearby, alone or with our accompanying tour guide .
SMILE, YOU’RE ON THE COAST OF LIGHT
A wonderfully laidback town, Saint Jean de Monts is ideal for combining laziness with exploration. With its coastal dunes planted with pines, its regional forest, its protected marshes or its 8 km beach adapted for children, Saint Jean de Monts was discovered in 1867 and is renowned for its architecture. During your holiday or weekend in the Vendée, Saint Jean de Monts is your departure point for the islands of Yeu and Noirmoutier.
Sailing enthusiasts can meet up at the marina.
Saint-Jean-de-Monts is a lively place devoted to pleasure where there are many shops and restaurants to discover, as well as a casino, conference centre and regular events.
Discover all this from your thalasso hotel in Saint Jean de Monts.
Emmanuelle, our tour guide, has prepared 3 made to measure programmes for you to uncover the real character of the area.
HIKING AT SAINT JEAN DE MONTS
Every Tuesday, the residents and guests can accompany Emmanuelle, for a few hours of walking to discover Saint-Jean-de-Mont’s history.
You’ll be told the history while walking through the forest…
Saint Jean de Monts, was it an island ?
Why yes, with photos in hand I can show you from 1620 up to the present whilst crossing the belvedere, which overlooks the golf course then the marshes and afterwards we come back to the centre using the customs officer path.
SEASIDE DISCOVERY of Sion coast road
Every THURSDAY and FRIDAY, outside the salt pan periods, Emmanuelle, our tour guide, takes you on the hotel’s shuttle to visit the Rié region.
By walking along our lovely sandy coastline, you’ll discover the different beaches which delight holidaymakers and we will quickly take the direction of the devil’s hole, the “cinq Pineaux” – five rocks eroded by the weather, to arrive in sardine country, then cross the Vie and come back across the salt marshes.
MEETING A SALT PANNER, VIA THE GOIS
Thierry Odéon, salt panner for 15 years, loves sharing his knowledge. Go and meet after crossing the salt marshes, whose qualities Emmanuelle will explain to you.
Take the plunge and cross the Gois, the famous tidal 4,5 km causeway which links Noirmoutier to the continent. At the end of the walk, meet our salt panner who will explain how his salt panning works. From April to the end of September, every Thursday and Friday morning.
